Nice looking diner! Very quiet on a Sunday evening, but thankfully, one of very few places that serves food for super. They appear to be short staffed and require guests' patience, but it literally took not much time from ordering our food to receiving it. I had the Cod Bite Dinner, which was quite tasty.
Local diner atmosphere, 5 star food! No pretentiousness here, just the best fish and chips we've had on our two week travels across Newfoundland. Being from Alberta, and never getting fresh fish, we have been eating fish and chips every chance we get. These are the ones! Light flavorful batter, tender fresh cod, plentiful servings, and very reasonable prices. The staff were super friendly and efficient, had our reserved table waiting, and were all smiles. Please move The Cod Jigger Diner to Alberta!
Only a short drive from the ferry. We were a little early to check into our Airbnb on Fogo and were starving as well so we stopped at the first open restaurant that we found. Talk about a lucky find! There was a bit of a rush of people coming to and from the ferry. There were signs saying that they were understaffed and doing their best. I think the service was great! We had coffee as a beverage and it was good quality restaurant coffee. Strong but not too bitter. We also ordered the fish and chips and it was some of the best we’ve had. The batter was super crispy, the cod fresh and not overcooked at all. The fries were good too!I’m very glad we found this place! There’s not much open in the spring on Fogo Island before all the tourists arrive. I will definitely go back if I ever make it back to the island.
We had lunch at the Cod Jigger, based on recommendations from locals. It was so delicious.I had the Fish Cake Dinner (made with our finest Atlantic sun dried cod, served with baked beans, pickles and house made bread). It was so yummy. Loved it!This diner is also a convenience store, with lots of local high school kids on a break. The service was quick, food was delicious, and price was decent.
You must visit this quaint restaurant during your time on the island. Both times we were there the service was incredible (and a different server each time)
If you’re into fish and chips this is one of the best places in the whole province for it. This is our third time here. We discovered this place two years ago. The fish is fresh and well cooked and well seasoned. Will be back for more tonight!
Very reasonably-priced homey food with friendly service. I had the cod bite dinner and my boyfriend had the turkey club.
What a gem of a restaurant. A must must try if you’re in Fogo.Best recommendation, ‘Satisfaction’ on the bottom of light lunch menu. The house made gravy and the golden fries with ground beef make it one hell of a meal. Absolutely amazing.
